Scientific Cooperation with Dutch University in Support of Establishing Higher Education Research Center at Damascus University

Dr. Wael Mualla, President of Damascus University, met on March 24th with the Vice President of International Affairs at the University of Amsterdam Hans de Wit and Eric Beerkens, a specialist in higher education at Leiden University in the Netherlands in order to discuss the development of the cooperative scientific relationship between the universities.  

The two sides discussed matters relating to the means of benefitting from the experiences of the Dutch teachers in the work that is currently underway in the Center for Higher Education at Damascus University.  The focus of the project relates primarily to effective administration and the quality of works being undertaken by these centers.

The talks were directed at the possibility of establishing international participation between a number of international research centers, mainly European, and Damascus University.  Additionally the sides discussed the progress of international projects designed to support the establishment of the center at Damascus University.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohamed Kayyal, the Director of the Center for Quality Assurance, and Mr. Fadi al-Shalabi, the coordinator of the Center for Higher Education Research at Damascus University.
